Objectives
  • To present the industrial, economical and technological issues of the digital imaging domain, through the examples of digital terrestrial TV, interactive HD TV and cultural heritage-related applications (virtual museums, digital heritage enhancement).
  • To introduce the core concepts for digital image analysis, modelling, indexing, interactivity and protection.
  • To offer an opening on current R&D and its economic impact in the Information and Communication Society.

  • Visual content analysis II: functional approaches
  • Deterministic modelling of 2D/3D visual objects

  • The MPEG-4 standard for visual object representation
  • Visual content indexing: descriptors, description schemes and the XML language
  • The MPEG-7 standard and its applications
  • Protection techniques for still images, videos and 3D objects. The MPEG-21 standard
